Canada Day 2017: A Day of Fun and Celebration

This Canada Day, celebrate Canada’s monumental 150th birthday by attending one of the many events taking place in and around Vancouver! There’s so much going on, it’s hard to capture it all — but here are a few highlights.

Canada Place is hosting the largest celebration outside our nation’s capital. On July 1, 2017, Canada Place, Jack Poole Plaza, and the surrounding city streets will celebrate with daytime performances from Sam Roberts, Fefe Dobson, Emerson Drive, and many more.

There will be a citizenship ceremony welcoming 150 new Canadians, the Canadian Forces Zone with displays and interactive exhibits, and a multi-community fireworks show. On July 2, there will be a pancake breakfast followed by a Canada 150 parade downtown.

Instant Theatre will present Canadiano!, a great Canadian play taking place at the Havana Theatre at 10:30 pm. The ultimate Canada Day & Night Boat Party will take place at the Plaza of Nations, boarding at noon (docking at 5 pm) with a night cruise boarding at 7 pm (docking at midnight).

The Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre will also host several Canada Day activities including amusement rides, food trucks, games land, and special events for kids and seniors.

Granville Island presents a day full of entertainment, music, spectacle, food, fun activities, street entertainment, and more.

The City of Burnaby is hosting a free Canada Day concert and fireworks display, with highlights including Steven Page (Barenaked Ladies), activities, exhibitors, and a spectacular fireworks display.

The Canada Day Red & White Picnic takes place at John Lawson Park in West Vancouver on July 1 from 2:00 pm-10:30 pm. Pack a picnic or choose from a variety of food vendors and enjoy an evening of fresh air, amazing views, and live entertainment.

Waterfront Park in North Vancouver is celebrating with a free event that includes fun things for all ages. Highlights include main stage entertainment featuring live music and dance performances, roving performers, food trucks, and more.
